First Lady Michelle Obama will be in season finale of Parks and Recreation, as Amy Poehler's character Leslie Knope tackles obesity in the town of Pawnee
Michelle Obama will make a guest appearance on the hit US comedy Parks and Recreation.
The first lady's office says she will appear on the NBC show's sixth season finale on April 24. The Amy Poehler-led satirical comedy is based on a group of small town government workers in the Parks and Recreation Department in Pawnee, Indiana. There are running jokes about the problems of obesity in the town, with Poehler's character Leslie Knope, the deputy director of the department, saying: "We're overrun with raccoons and obese toddlers." She says there are only three places in America with higher rates of obesity and suggests the slogan for Pawnee should be: "First in Friendship, Fourth in Obesity.”
President Barack Obama's wife has campaigned against child obesity and this week Poehler helped the campaign when she appeared at a 'Let's Move' event in Miami, where Mrs Obama joked that she and Poehler are best friends. The episode of Parks and Recreation that Obama appears in was filmed in Miama.

The episode will be called Moving Up and the show's Twitter account said it's "time to get real about Pawnee's obesity".
The show has a track record of cameos by politicians, including Vice President Joe Biden, Arizona Senator John McCain, California Senator Barbara Boxer and former Maine Senator Olympia Snowe.
Rob Lowe was a previous star of Parks and Recreation The present series stars Nick Offerman, Aziz Ansari, Adam Scott, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Pratt, Retta and Jim O'Heir. NBC announced last month that Parks and Recreation was being renewed for a seventh season.
