WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT LADY GAGA?

Lady Gaga: Woman puking on me was art:::

A lot of things are artistic. Dance, painting, photography, even the words you read on this website could be considered as an art form.

Ever since Lady Gaga hit the scene in 2009 she's done some pretty bizarre things under the premise of "art" and "expression". Look, frankly, if you're not an artistic person, then all of her stunts will look just plain crazy. If you're a little more open minded, you can see the poetry, the symbolism and the meaning in her work. Even the most open minded of music fans, however, will struggle to contextualise Lady Gaga's recent performance, where she allowed a woman to get on stage and, er, puke on her.

Now before you get too grossed out, let's put some context into all of this. The lady who stepped on stage, Millie Brown, is what is known as a vomit painter. By the looks of it (And pardon us for not being willing to get into too much detail while learning of this phenomenon) she swallows colored liquids and... well, pukes them out.

Okay, so that's not as gross as puking out your breakfast; but it still makes for some pretty uncomfortable viewing! Ms Gaga had this to say in response:

''ARTPOP, my new album, is about bringing art and music together in the spirit of creative rebellion. And for [me and Millie], that performance was art in its purest form. But we totally understand that people won't be into it.''

Yes madame, you are very right that a lot of people won't be into it. On the one hand, art and expression should be about... well, expressing your artistic self in any way possible. Making a statement and standing out are all parts and parcel of the gig. On the other hand, would it not be fair to suggest that Lady Gaga has a duty as an entertainer and there does exist such a thing as taking a step too far?

Former Disney star, Demi Lovato didn't take too kindly to the performance. Being a former Bulimia sufferer herself, she took to Twitter immediately after her performance and lashed out at the 'distasteful' performance.

It's fair to say which side of the camp we're on in this argument; and it's not in Ms Gaga's! What do you think? Artistic or Grotesque?
