Butafly - BUTAFLY RAP TRAP [BRT] Mixtape Artwork...frontLois Herbert popularly known as BUTAFLY aka Labalaba Toh Gaju is a talented Songwriter, Singer and rapper whose interest in poetry stimulated her love for music.
The young and vibrant rapper wrote her first complete song while in secondary school and never failed to give her friends and family a captivating performance at the slightest opportunity.
While at the University of Port-Harcourt where she studied Geo-Physics, her passion for music motivated her to put together an all girl music group known as ‘PLAJ’, which later became defunct after some group recordings and performances.
‘Big Lizzle’ as she was then referred to forged ahead with her career by recording solo materials  released in Port-Harcourt and Lagos respectively, after which she decided to take a short break off music to focus on her education.
In 2011 she resurfaced with renewed zeal and a name change and earned the respect of critics by emerging as the first ever winner of the ‘Radio Palmwine Competition’.  Her creativity was further appreciated by her captivating cover version of Ice Prince monster hit ‘Oleku’. She followed up by dropping the first song off her mixtape, ‘Gidi Gurl’ which she performed at the 2face ‘Away and Beyond’ concerts in Port-Harcourt and Abuja among over twenty shows across Nigeria.
Butafly would go further to record a W4 ‘Kontrol’ cover and a Drake ‘Started From The Bottom’ cover, they both enjoyed massive downloads and great reviews online.  Her fans were thrilled to see the young rapper use the buzz generated by these covers to release five singles off her mixtape at successive intervals.
Butafly Rap Trap (BRT) mixtape was finally released online on December 9, 2013. The 21 track mixtape has been referred to by critics as the most detailed body of work by a Nigerian female rapper in recent times. It can be downloaded from top Nigerian blogs and websites among other platforms. The six-man produced mixtape features the acclaimed MI Abaga who endorsed it, Terry Tha Rapman, A-Q, Godwon, Koffi among other talented artistes who made the project a success.
Although unsigned, the Lagos based rapper is ready to take the Industry by surprise as she plans to release new singles and videos in 2014.
