TOP 5 FUNNY #COMEDIAN IN NIGERIA AND WHY:::

Comedy in Nigerian today has grown to becoming not just a hobby but a source of livelihood. With the spontaneity and relatable jokes that comedians tell, there is no doubt that the art is here to stay. With a review of the comedy industry, here is our list of the top five funniest of them all.

 GORDONS
Gordons
Godwin Komone, a.k.a Gordons, is one stand-up comedian with an enormous ambition and passion for his job. Like a modern Alexander the Great, he is obsessed with a desire to conquer the hearts and souls of Nigerians.
This Urhobo-born Integrated Science graduate from Delta State University (DELSU) has performed at many A-list events. According to him “comedy, for me, is not a career; comedy is life. Asking me if I will stop is just like asking a prophet if he will stop prophesying. I may stop doing major comedy but I can’t stop being funny. People don’t take me serious when I am trying to express myself, but I understand the job I do”.
AKPORORO
Akpororo
Bowoto Jephta also known as Akpororo is one of Nigeria’s finest comedian with so much swagger and too much anointing. He started comedy around 2008 and had his breakthrough in 2010 after his recognition at the AY Open Comedy Mic show.

According Akpororo, he draws his inspiration from the bible and messages preached in church. He also tells jokes about pastors and madmen because the deliverance of madmen fascinates him. The young star who grows up in the Niger Delta region tried a lot of other things like singing, playing football, table tennis, swimming, etc before his big break.
Akpororo had issues with his parents concerning his comedy career at his early stage,” But with time, they didn’t have a choice than to key in into my ‘ministry’ (comedy) when I started making headway with it” he says. The Lagos State University student who is studying Sociology looks up to Gordons, Gandoki and Bishop Mattew.
BOVI
Bovi
Bovi Ugboma popularly known as Bovi, is one of Nigerians recent funniest comedians. The graduate of Theatre Arts from Delta State University, Abraka took to comedy in 2008 and has since grown to become one of the leading lights in the industry.
He had his primary education in UNIBEN Staff School and three other secondary schools. After his youth service, Bovi moved to Lagos in 2004 and landed a job as Personal Assistant to leading actor, Richard Mofe-Damijo. He worked for two years and six months in this capacity and went on to set up his own production team in September 2006.
On the 1st of April 2007, the hit sitcom ‘Extended Family’ produced and written by Bovi hit the television screens. That was the turning point for him as the program went on to become a household name. Today, Bovi has featured in almost all the big comedy concerts in Nigeria and a host of others outside the shores of Nigeria. Currently, he is the CEO of Kountry Kulture Networks ltd; a production house with bias for television, film and events.
SEYI LAW
Seyi Law
Seyi Law has continued to soar in comic entertainment since hitting limelight following his success at the AY Open Comedy Mic in 2006. Born Idileoye Oluwaseyitan Lawrence Aletile, he started comedy professionally in 2007 but was just roaming around as a comedian from December 2005 until he participated and won the AY Open Comedy competition in September 2006. After that, Seyi decided to be under the tutelage of AY for a year before he decided to take up comedy as a profession.
The star who loves to attribute his source of inspiration to God had his nursery and primary schools in Okitipupa, Ondo State, and from there, according to him “proceeded to Ekiti State Government College, formerly Unity Secondary School where I did my junior secondary school. That was probably where the comedy thing started; you know performing at social gathering and all that.
Later, I went to Lagos to have my senior secondary school education at Methodist Boys High School, Victoria Island, Lagos. Then I had a break before later pursuing a part-time programme in Computer Studies at the Lagos State Polytechnic.” And recently he is latest Brand Ambassador or OLX.com ...

We are celebrating Bright Okpocha; four-time winner of the National Comedy Award for Best Comedian of the year, Brand Ambassador for one of the leading telecommunication companies in Africa (Globacom), Best Standup Comedian of the year 2005/6, Chief Executive Officer of Barons World Entertainment and an history maker, for the first one man Standup Comedy Show in Nigeria (Basket Mouth Uncensored).
Bright Okpocha popularly known as Basket-Mouth is a native of Abia State and a graduate of Sociology and Anthropology from University of Benin (UNIBEN) who dropped his certificates to become a stand-up comedian in Nigeria. Although, Basket Mouth saw his act as just wording which is also known as yabbing at the early stage of his career; today, he stands out as one of the names to reckon with in the comedy/entertainment industry.
